open post: in a slightly hazy lounge
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
After a few false starts, Shen Qingqiu has found a proper place to test out Crowley's BL pollen vape pen.
He posts up in one of the lounges, close enough to the bar that anyone leaving there might find him. He's still in his braid and loose robes - no one else had noticeably started dressing gayer1 when they took the stuff, intentional or not, so neither will he. He also brings snacks,2 and the next book in the Blood at Dusk series, Moonless Midnight, in case it takes a while to kick in, or a while for anyone to come along to prove it has, anyway. If no one finds him here he will go looking, but roaming the Mansion's halls newly homosexual feels like a much more risky prospect than just staying put and seeing what happens.
He arrays himself on a couch, feet tucked up under him (although this might not be immediately apparent due to the robes), Crowley's pen tucked behind one ear so he can make more notes now that he has a glimmer of a chance that Binghe will forgive him,3 and takes a drag on the vape.
He coughs. It's smoke, not pollen—the blooms must be dried and then burned, like with tobacco—and has an odd, kind of greenish flavor. Not unpleasant, but not pleasant, either. He expected it to taste of, like. Cherry blossom, or something. Pink rather than green. Shit, maybe he is a little homophobic.
He takes another drag, and lets the smoke out of his mouth slowly this time, watching it curl up to the ceiling.
By the time anyone finds him, he will be staring unblinking at the opposite wall, book open on his lap to the third page of the first chapter.
[Threads with Sagramore and Luo Binghe are NSFW.]
1 Please explain what you mean by this, Shen Qingqiu. I'll wait.
2 Crowley did tell him to.
3 After he confirms that the pollen works. And goes to find Binghe. And kisses him. And— well. Maybe. After. He can raise the book club idea again?

Anyway. Outside of that. It's a little sad that Claudius is blaming his own BL pollen use on the humors. It's okay to want to be gay just to be gay, dude. "Isn't that why most people partake?" he asks, pointedly. "Just for fun?"

"Of course not," he lies, and then, daring, "and you? I know there was the once, with Crowley." But--earlier. Right? With Binghe. But maybe that time was an accidental dose. And--"Did you and Galahad...?"
no subject
"Yes, well, there was a time where Galahad only needed one remedy from me," Claudius says wryly. "After he lost his memories, I believe he also lost many of the inhibitions this particular medicine is meant to lift. It would've been pleasant to try it together," he allows, with a fond thought of Galahad giddy and relaxed, and the assortment of foods Claudius could arrange to have on hand for him. "We've resumed our courtship, if it can be called that -- hopefully we'll have some chances to partake in new experiences. Did you and Galahad share any remedies together? I understand you've recently been a help to him."

His first instinct is to wave away Claudius' insinuations that he and Galahad had taken pollen together, of course not, don't be crude--but then, why wouldn't they?? Everyone else seemed to be doing it with every cute boy they knew, and Galahad is a very cute boy.
But. He doesn't want Galahad to be confused--or worse, lie for him--if Claudius asks. "No," he says, finally.2 "No 'remedies.'" He does airquotes. "I just, like. Helped him find a way to express himself, because words are hard."
1 The thing stopping most people from being gay is not the knowledge that they have previously been straight, Shen Qingqiu.
2 All of this cogitation took him a long time, in his current state. There was an extended silence, here.

"I am," he says. "But I'm also doing science."
1 Hell points, obviously. Don't ask him to think too hard about Aziraphale or he'll get lost in how he has to rename these to distinguish them from Heaven points.

1 Doing science for fun while indulging in hemp flower actually does sound like Claudius's idea of a good time.
no subject
1 For once he's not intentionally being vague. He thinks Claudius will know exactly what this means.

He laughs. "I must admit, you're fast becoming charming again. Dissolute, as Grantaire likes to call himself." Though Claudius put off the question, he has to ask now, "Do these people include Luo Binghe?"
no subject
He feels like he should lie about this, obfuscate, but his brain refuses to cooperate, or remember why telling Claudius this won't be good. Is it because it might make him jealous? But, like, wouldn't it be kind of fun to make Claudius jealous? "Yes," he says, and then gets a little lost planning the cattiest next line. Of course, or why, are you jealous? are way too direct. Because he wants me, way too bold, and also makes something in Shen Qingqiu go hot and flustered. Maybe he should've gone with an arch, wouldn't you like to know, but it's too late now.

Claudius didn't need two hits of the vapor. He makes a mental note of that, to compare it to the effects of smoke. It is nice that he and Shen Qingqiu are more or less involved in the same experiment, he thinks. They understand each other much better this way.
